AN ACT to amend the  mental  hygiene  law  and  the  education  law,  in
  relation  to  requiring  the  office of alcoholism and substance abuse
  services in consultation with the state education department to  iden-
  tify  or develop materials on problem gambling among school-aged youth
  to be used by school districts and boards of  cooperative  educational
  services

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1.  Subdivision (i) of section 19.07  of  the  mental  hygiene
law,  as added by chapter 551 of the laws of 2013, is amended to read as
follows:
  [(i)] (J) The office [of alcoholism and substance abuse services],  in
consultation  with  the  state  education department, shall [establish a
curriculum for a course of instruction in adolescent] IDENTIFY OR DEVEL-
OP MATERIALS ON problem gambling AMONG SCHOOL-AGE YOUTH which  may[,  at
the  option  of  any  school, be provided in grades four through twelve.
Such course of instruction shall include materials] BE  USED  BY  SCHOOL
DISTRICTS  AND  BOARDS  OF  COOPERATIVE  EDUCATIONAL  SERVICES, AT THEIR
OPTION, to educate students on the dangers and consequences  of  problem
gambling[, and] AS THEY DEEM APPROPRIATE. SUCH MATERIALS shall be avail-
able  on  the  internet  website  of  [such  office] THE STATE EDUCATION
DEPARTMENT.  THE INTERNET WEBSITE OF THE OFFICE SHALL PROVIDE  A  HYPER-
LINK  TO  THE  INTERNET  PAGE  OF  THE  STATE  EDUCATION DEPARTMENT THAT
DISPLAYS SUCH MATERIALS.
  S 2. Subdivision 43 of section 305 of the education law, as  added  by
chapter 551 of the laws of 2013, is amended to read as follows:
  43.  The commissioner shall make available, on the department internet
website, [the curriculum of the course of instruction in]  MATERIALS  ON
[adolescent] problem gambling [established] AMONG SCHOOL-AGE YOUTH IDEN-
TIFIED  OR  DEVELOPED  BY  THE  OFFICE OF ALCOHOLISM AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE
