BILL NUMBER:S301 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to providing free use of state parks to family members of deceased military PURPOSE: This legislation would allow family members of those killed in action to receive free park passes. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 adds a new section to allow family members of those killed in action to receive free park passes. JUSTIFICATION: The families of those killed in action go through a grieving process that none of us can imagine. As individuals who are killed in action do not receive a DD214 the family is unable to apply for a free parks pass, this legislation seems to remedy that problem. This legislation is only a mere token of what the State of NY owes these families, and their loved ones who died in service of this State and Country.
