BILL NUMBER:S3996 TITLE OF BILL: An act to direct the commissioner of education to consider granting a waiver of the existing amortization agreement with regard to certain bonds issued by the Belfast central school district PURPOSE OF BILL: To direct the commissioner to consider an application for a waiver of amortization requirements submitted by Belfast Central School District. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 directs the commissioner of education to consider granting a waiver, pursuant to section 3602 of the Education Law. Section 2 states that this act shall take effect immediately. JUSTIFICATION: On June 20, 2012, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) authorized the issuance of one or more series of bonds for the purposes of refunding DASNY's School Districts Revenue Bond Financing Program Revenue Bonds issued during calendar year 2002.

YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to direct the commissioner of education to consider granting a waiver of the existing amortization agreement with regard to certain bonds issued by the Belfast central school district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the commissioner of education is hereby directed to consider granting a waiver, pursuant to an application submitted in accordance with subpara- graph 6 of paragraph e of subdivision 6 of section 3602 of the education law, to the Belfast central school district in the county of Allegany, with regard to the existing amortization of the series 2002A through 2002E and series 2002G through 2002I bonds issued by such school district. In the event that such waiver is granted by the commissioner of education pursuant to this act, the waiver shall be subject to the provisions of subparagraph 6 of paragraph e of subdivision 6 of section 3602 of the education law.
