BILL NUMBER:S6194 TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize approval of certain transportation contracts of the Dansville central school district Purpose: To authorize approval of certain transportation contracts of the Dansville central school district. Summary of Provisions: Section 1 provides that transportation contracts C270724 and C270725 of the Dansville central school district with Livingston-Wyoming ARC are legalized, validated, ratified and confirmed. Section 2 directs the education department to consider these contracts for transportation aid. Section 3 provides an immediate effective date. Justification: This legislation is a special act to authorize the distribution of state transportation aid which was denied by the New York State Education Department to Dansville Central School District. Dansville CSD was denied aid for these contracts based on the premise that they were not advertised or published, yet this was through no fault of Dansville CSD as the contracts were submitted in good faith for publishing in a timely manner. YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to authorize approval of certain transportation contracts of the Dansville central school district THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. All the acts done and proceedings heretofore had and taken or caused to be had and taken by the Dansville central school district and by all officers, employees or agents of such school district relat- ing to or in connection with transportation contracts C270724 and C270725 for the 2012-2013 school year with Livingston-Wyoming ARC, and all acts incidental thereto are hereby legalized, validated, ratified and confirmed, notwithstanding any failure to comply with the contract award, approval, and filing provisions of the education law, the general municipal law or any other law or any other statutory authority, rule or regulations, other than those filing provisions defined in paragraph a of subdivision 5 of section 3604 of the education law, in relation to any omission, error, defect, irregularity or illegality in such proceed- ing had and taken. S 2. The education department is hereby directed to consider the aforementioned contracts for transportation aid as valid and proper obligations of the Dansville central school district. S 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13293-01-4
