S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 2467 2013-2014 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 15, 2013 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CRESPO -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Employees AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to requiring police officers to complete community affairs duties on an annual basis THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding a new section 14-146 to read as follows: S 14-146 COMMUNITY AFFAIRS DUTIES. ANY MEMBER OF THE POLICE FORCE RANKED AS A POLICE OFFICER AS SET FORTH IN SUBDIVISION SIX OF SECTION 14-102 OF THIS CHAPTER, EXCEPT THOSE POLICE OFFICERS PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED TO THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS BUREAU, SHALL AID AND ASSIST THE OPER- ATIONS OF THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS BUREAU TO FOSTER POSITIVE AND PRODUCTIVE POLICE-COMMUNITY RELATIONS THROUGH COMPLETION OF AT LEAST FOURTEEN ACTIVE DUTY SHIFTS PER CALENDAR YEAR WITH THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS UNIT OF SUCH OFFICER'S ASSIGNED PRECINCT. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING SUCH POLICE OFFICERS' ANNUAL ASSIGNMENTS WITH THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS UNITS WITHIN SIX MONTHS AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS SECTION.
