GOTTFRIED -- read once and referred to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the employment and supervision of physician assistants THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivisions 3 and 5 of section 6542 of the education law, as amended by chapter 48 of the laws of 2012, are amended to read as follows: 3. No physician shall employ or supervise more than [two] SIX physi- cian assistants AT ANY ONE TIME in his or her private practice. 5. Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, nothing shall prohibit a physician employed by or rendering services to the department of corrections and community supervision under contract from supervising no more than [four] SIX physician assistants AT ANY ONE TIME in his or her practice for the department of corrections and community super- vision. S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed- ing the date on which it shall have become a law; provided that, effec- tive immediately, any rules and regulations necessary to implement the provisions of this act on its effective date are authorized to be added, amended and/or repealed on or before such date.
