AN ACT to amend the public housing law, in relation to a housing author-
  ity's disposition of property

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Paragraph k of subdivision 1 of section 37  of  the  public
housing  law,  as amended by chapter 858 of the laws of 1968, is amended
to read as follows:
  (k) lease or rent, as lessor or sublessor, any of the housing or other
accommodations or any of the lands, buildings, structures or  facilities
embraced  in any project or connected with any program to provide dwell-
ing accommodations for persons of low income, and establish  and  revise
the  rents  or charges therefor.  HOWEVER, THE LEASE OR SALE OF ANY SUCH
LANDS, BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES OR FACILITIES OWNED, LEASED,  OR  OTHERWISE
IN  THE CONTROL OF AN AUTHORITY SHALL OCCUR ONLY AFTER CONSULTATION WITH
AND APPROVAL BY AN  AFFECTED  RESIDENT  ADVISORY  BOARD  OR  BOARDS,  AS
DEFINED  BY  SECTION  903.13  OF  TITLE  24 OF THE CODE OF FEDERAL REGU-
LATIONS, AND EVIDENCED BY A LETTER ISSUED BY SUCH BOARD AFTER A VOTE  OF
THE MAJORITY OF ITS MEMBERS, AND PURSUANT TO THE FEDERAL RULES AND REGU-
LATIONS  APPLICABLE  TO  APPLICATIONS  FOR  THE  DISPOSITION OF PROPERTY
BELONGING TO AN AUTHORITY;
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
