BILL NUMBER:S314 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the elder law, in relation to creating the mature workers support program PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To develop a guide for businesses regarding the hiring, retaining and retraining of mature workers in New York State. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1. Amends the Elder Law by adding a new article 3. Directs the office for aging and the department of labor to develop and update on an annual basis, a mature workers' guide for businesses in New York State. Section 2. The elder law is amended by adding a new article 3 to read as follows: ARTICLE III MATURE WORKERS SUPPORT PROGRAM SECTION 301. MATURE WORKERS SUPPORT PROGRAM. S 301. MATURE WORKERS SUPPORT PROGRAM. 1. THE OFFICE SHALL, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, DEVELOP AND UPDATE ON AN ANNU- AL BASIS A GUIDE FOR BUSINESSES FOR HIRING, RETAINING, AND RETRAINING MATURE WORKERS IN NEW YORK STATE. 2. SUCH GUIDE SHALL BE MADE AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITES OF THE OFFICE, DEPARTMENT OF LABOR, AND DEPARTMENT OF STATE. BUSINESSES THAT OBTAIN CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR OR DEPARTMENT OF STATE SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A LINK TO THIS GUIDE, OR A PAPER COPY UPON REQUEST, WHEN THEY APPLY FOR SUCH CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE. A REASON- ABLE FEE MAY BE CHARGED FOR PAPER COPIES PROVIDED TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT BUSINESS OWNERS. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
