S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 9096 I N A S S E M B L Y January 26, 2016 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CUSICK -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring the department of health to provide information on neonatal abstinence syndrome screening, intervention, and counseling for pregnant women on a department website devoted to advancing women's health initiatives THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraphs (u) and (v) of subdivision 1 of section 266 of the public health law, as added by chapter 342 of the laws of 2014, are amended and a new paragraph (w) is added to read as follows: (u) Syphilis screening for all pregnant women or other women at increased risk; [and] (v) Well-woman visits to obtain recommended preventive services; AND (W) NEONATAL ABSTINENCE SYNDROME SCREENING, INTERVENTIONS AND COUN- SELING FOR PREGNANT WOMEN. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13437-01-5
