BILL NUMBER: S491 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the education law, in relation to financial disclosure by employees of state operated campus foundations, including the Research Foundation of the State University of New York PURPOSE : To make the requirements for foundation employees in regard to financial disclosure consistent with those required for the State University of New York. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Amends the education law to add a new subdivision 6-b requiring state operated campus foundation employees to be subject to financial disclosure pursuant to section 73-a of the public officers law and to clarify that the salaries of such employees shall be open to the public. Section 2. Sets forth the effective date. JUSTIFICATION : Currently, law provides that SUNY employees fill out financial disclosure forms filed with the New York State Legislative Ethics Commission. This bill would make the requirements for foundation employees in regard to financial disclosure consistent with those required for the State University of New York and would further

LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Higher Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to financial disclosure by employees of state operated campus foundations, including the Research Foundation of the State University of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 355 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 6-b to read as follows: 6-B. EMPLOYEES OF STATE OPERATED CAMPUS FOUNDATIONS, INCLUDING EMPLOY- EES OF THE RESEARCH FOUNDATION OF THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, SHALL BE SUBJECT TO FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE PURSUANT TO SECTION SEVENTY-THREE-A OF THE PUBLIC OFFICERS LAW AND INFORMATION REGARDING THE SALARIES OF SUCH EMPLOYEES SHALL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
