BILL NUMBER: S6741 TITLE OF BILL : An act relating to the Long Island Rail Road weekend reduced fare program PURPOSE : To ensure trips from Far Rockaway to other locations in New York City and trips to Far Rockaway from other locations in New York City are included in the Long Island Rail Road weekend reduced fare program. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 provides this act shall be known as the "Long Island Rail Road Fare Act." Section 2 contains legislative findings. Section 3 contains definitions. Section 4 provides it shall be unlawful for the Long Island Rail Road to exclude from its weekend fare programs individuals traveling from Far Rockaway station to another location within New York City and to Far Rockaway station from another location within New York City. Section 5 provides all trips included in such weekend fare program

SANDERS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT relating to the Long Island Rail Road weekend reduced fare program THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Short title. This act shall be known as the "Long Island Rail Road Fare Act". S 2. Legislative findings. The New York state legislature has found that on the weekends the Long Island Rail Road, a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, provides reduced fare between the hours of 12:01 AM Saturday until 11:59 AM Sunday at certain station locations. Passengers traveling to and from locations within New York city should not forfeit their enjoyment of such reduced fare because their train happens to pass through Nassau county. S 3. Definitions. The term "fare" shall mean a person or persons who tender money to participate in the transportation services provided by the Long Island Rail Road. S 4. It shall be unlawful for the Long Island Rail Road to exclude from its weekend reduced fare programs individuals traveling from Far Rockaway station to another location within New York city and to Far Rockaway station from another location within New York city. S 5. All trips included in such weekend reduced fare program shall receive the same reduced fare regardless of starting and ending points. S 6. An exclusion may be made for all trips to and from Belmont Park station. It shall not be required that such station be included in the weekend reduced fare program. S 7. BILL NUMBER: S6741A TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to the Long Island Rail Road weekend reduced fare program PURPOSE : To ensure Far Rockaway is included in the Long Island Rail Road weekend reduced fare program. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 provides this act shall be known as the "Long Island Rail Road Fare Act." Section 2 contains legislative findings. Section 3 amends section 1266 of the public authorities law by adding a new subdivision 14-a providing the Long Island Rail Road shall include Far Rockaway Station in its New York City weekend reduced fare ("CityTicket") program, and it shall enjoy the same benefits as all other stations in the program. Section 4 provides the effective date.

SUCH STATION SHALL ENJOY THE SAME BENEFITS AS ALL OTHER STATIONS INCLUDED IN SUCH PROGRAM. S 4. This act shall take effect April 1, 2017.
