TITONE, MALLIOTAKIS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to providing a discount for senior citizens in the city of New York for such persons' water bills THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 1045-j of the public authorities law is amended by adding a new subdivision 3-a to read as follows: 3-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, THE WATER BOARD MAY PROVIDE A TEN PERCENT DISCOUNT FOR ALL SENIOR CITIZENS FROM THE FEE, RATE, RENT OR OTHER CHARGE ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO THIS SECTION. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION, "SENIOR CITIZEN" SHALL MEAN A RESIDENT OF THE CITY WHO IS AGE SIXTY-FIVE OR OLDER. THE WATER BOARD MAY PROMULGATE RULES AND REGU- LATIONS NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION. S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
