SOLAGES -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to incorporating art and music into prekindergarten programs THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The education law is amended by adding a new section 805 to read as follows: S 805. MUSIC AND ART IN PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS. SCHOOL DISTRICTS, CHARTER SCHOOLS, OR BOARDS OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES MAY AUTHORIZE THE INCORPORATION OF MUSIC AND ART INTO PREKINDERGARTEN PROGRAMS. S 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD09734-01-5
