BILL NUMBER:S5587 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public authorities law, in relation to directing state agencies and public authorities to reduce their energy use, and to prepare reports of their actions and achievements relating to energy efficiency and provide such reports to the New York power authority SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends the public authorities law to direct the New York Power Authority to oversee the implementation of this section. Section 2: Sets forth an immediate effective date for this bill. JUSTIFICATION: Executive Order 88 was enacted to require state agencies and authorities to improve the energy efficiency of state buildings and to report to the New York Power Authority with their results. Historically the agencies and authorities in New York State have either failed to provide the required reports or have provided inadequate data. By this bill the legislature demands that the eligible agencies and authorities comply with energy reduction measures and mandatory reporting requirements.
