BILL NUMBER: S7302 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the labor law, in relation to exemptions from licensure requirements PURPOSE : The purpose of this bill is to ensure the safety of residents of public housing authorities housing by ensuring that only licensed professionals are performing mold assessment, abatement, and remediation. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : This would amend Labor Law Section 933, Subdivision 4, to provide that public housing authorities are subject to the requirements of Chapter 551 of 2014, (as amended by Chapter 90 of 2015). JUSTIFICATION : Chapter 551 of 2014 (amended by Chapter 90 of 2015) added a new Article 32 to the Labor Law establishing the licensing of mold inspection, assessment and remediation specialists and minimum work standards.Public housing authorities are currently exempt from these

Subdivision 4 of section 933 of the labor law, as amended by chapter 90 of the laws of 2015, is amended to read as follows: 4. a federal, state or local governmental unit [or public authority] and employees thereof that perform mold assessment, remediation, or abatement on any property owned, managed or remediated by such govern- mental unit [or authority]. S 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD14983-01-6
