BILL NUMBER: S7657 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to providing Long Island residents with water usage information PURPOSE : To ensure water customers are provided with understandable information on their water usage. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : The environmental conservation law is amended by adding a new section 15-1530. JUSTIFICATION : This bill will ensure that everyone on Long Island paying for water consumption is provided with plain-language information on the amount of water consumed and a comparison of the previous year's usage. Usage information currently provided to customers is measured in cubic feet, which is meaningless to most customers. This legislation would require the information to be provided in gallons, which is something almost everyone can understand.
