AN ACT to amend chapter 116 of the  laws  of  2016  authorizing  Richard
  Insogna,  Jr. to take the competitive civil service examination and be
  placed on the eligible list for  appointment  as  a  full-time  police
  officer  for  the  village  of  Fort  Plain,  county of Montgomery, in
  relation to technical corrections thereto

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Sections 1 and 2 of chapter 116 of the laws of 2016 author-
izing  Richard  Insogna, Jr. to take the competitive civil service exam-
ination and be placed on the eligible list for appointment  as  a  full-
time  police officer for the village of Fort Plain, county of Montgomery
are amended to read as follows:
  Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of  the  civil
service  law,  or  any other law to the contrary, Richard Insogna, [Jr.]
SR., who has been continuously employed by the village of Fort Plain, in
the county of Montgomery, as a part-time police officer, shall be eligi-
ble to take the competitive civil service examination for  the  position
of  police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examina-
tion, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a
full-time police officer for the village of Fort Plain.
  S 2. Richard Insogna, [Jr.] SR. shall  otherwise  be  subject  to  the
merit  and  fitness  provisions  of  the civil service law applicable to
full-time police officers.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the  same  date  and  in  the  same
manner as chapter 116 of the laws of 2016 takes effect.
