S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 11302 I N A S S E M B L Y August 15, 2018 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Gunther) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions AN ACT directing the public service commission to study the feasibility of a municipal broadband program within the state THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The chair of the public service commission shall study and evaluate the feasibility of a municipal broadband program. § 2. The public service commission shall evaluate such data with the assistance of experts in: a. internet speed; b. telecommunications; and c. broadband infrastructure. § 3. No later than one year after the effective date of this act, the public service commission shall submit to the governor and the legisla- ture a report on the feasibility of a municipal broadband program within the state. § 4.
