S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 3326 2017-2018 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 27, 2017 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. DenDEKKER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to requiring verbal warnings to be issued prior to the issuance of a parking violation THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new section 1202-a to read as follows: § 1202-A. VERBAL WARNING PRIOR TO PARKING VIOLATION. NO MOTOR VEHICLE, OCCUPIED BY ONE OR MORE PERSONS, SHALL BE ISSUED A PARKING VIOLATION UNLESS A VERBAL WARNING HAS FIRST BEEN ISSUED BY A MEMBER OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, FIRE DEPARTMENT, THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION OR ANY OTHER OFFICER OR ENTITY DESIGNATED WITH THE AUTHORITY TO ISSUE SUCH VIOLATIONS. § 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD08448-01-7
