S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 395 2017-2018 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y January 9, 2017 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. MAGNARELLI -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to increasing fines for throwing refuse on highways and adjacent lands THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision (c) of section 1220 of the vehicle and traffic law, as amended by chapter 418 of the laws of 2007, is amended to read as follows: (c) A violation of the provisions of subdivision (a) of this section shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed [three] SEVEN hundred fifty dollars and/or a requirement to perform services for a public or not- for-profit corporation, association, institution or agency not to exceed ten hours and for any second or subsequent violation by a fine not to exceed [seven] ONE THOUSAND FOUR hundred dollars and/or a requirement to perform services for a public or not-for-profit corporation, associ- ation, institution or agency not to exceed fifteen hours. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD00400-01-7
