BILL NUMBER: S2510 Revised 4/3/17 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to establishing the open season for hunting coyote in certain circumstances PURPOSE : Provides that the open season for hunting coyotes shall be all year long in certain instances. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 of this measure amends paragraph o of subdivision 2 of section 11-0905 of the Environmental Conservation Law to allow the open season for hunting coyote to be all year, provided that the county legislature passes a resolution authorizing such hunting within the county. Section 2 provides for an immediate effective date. JUSTIFICATION : Coyote populations have grown exponentially and have caused environ- mental and social difficulties. HELMING -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to establishing the open season for hunting coyote in certain circum- stances THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph o of subdivision 2 of section 11-0905 of the environmental conservation law, as amended by chapter 911 of the laws of 1990, is amended to read as follows: o. Coyote [Fixed annually] Fixed annually [by regulation] by regulation AFTER DECEMBER 31, 2019, THE OPEN SEASON FOR THESE SPECIES SHALL BE ALL YEAR, PROVIDED, THAT THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE PASSES A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUCH HUNTING WITHIN THE COUNTY. § 2.
