BILL NUMBER: S2514 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to certain registrations of vehicles PURPOSE : This bill will ease the vehicle registration process for the agricultural industry by extending the length of seasonal permits. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Amends the eighth undesignated paragraph of paragraph (f) of subdivision 15 of section 385 of the vehicle and traffic law by extending the seasonal agricultural permit from "four consecutive months" to "from the first of April to the eleventh of November." Section 2. Effective date. EXISTING LAW : Currently, a seasonal agricultural permit can only be valid for four consecutive months. JUSTIFICATION :

GALLIVAN, MARCHIONE, VALESKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to certain registrations of vehicles THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The eighth undesignated paragraph of paragraph (f) of subdivision 15 of section 385 of the vehicle and traffic law, as amended by section 4 of part C of chapter 59 of the laws of 2004, is amended to read as follows: The department of transportation may issue a seasonal agricultural permit in accordance with subparagraphs (i), (ii) and (iii) of this paragraph that will be valid [for four consecutive months] FROM THE FIRST OF APRIL TO THE ELEVENTH OF NOVEMBER with a fee equal to one-half the annual permit fees established under this subdivision. § 2.
