 AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the requirements for a
   license as a professional land surveyor
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  Section  7206-a of the education law, as added by chapter
 987 of the laws of 1971, paragraph 3 of subdivision 1 and subdivision  2
 as amended by chapter 32 of the laws of 1981, paragraph 6 of subdivision
 1  as  amended  by  chapter  133  of the laws of 1982 and paragraph 8 of
 subdivision 1 and subdivision 3 as amended by chapter 62 of the laws  of
 1989, is amended to read as follows:
   § 7206-a. Requirements  for a license as a professional land surveyor.
 1. To qualify for a license as a professional land surveyor,  an  appli-
 cant shall fulfill the following requirements:
   (1) Application: file an application with the department;
   (2) Education: have received an education, including [a bachelor's] AN
 ASSOCIATE'S  or  higher  degree  [based on a program] in land surveying,
 ENGINEERING, MATH, OR RELATED  SCIENCE  WITH  FIFTEEN  CREDITS  IN  LAND
 SURVEYING, in accordance with the commissioner's regulations;
   (3)  Experience:  [(a)  If  the  applicant  has a bachelor's or higher
 degree, have at least four years in  work  satisfactory  to  the  board,
 provided that the board may accept study beyond the bachelor's degree in
 partial  fulfillment of this requirement; or (b) If the applicant has an
 associate's degree, have at least six years in work satisfactory to  the
 board  provided  that  the board may accept study beyond the associate's
 degree in partial fulfillment of this requirement] HAVE PRACTICAL  EXPE-
 RIENCE SATISFACTORY TO THE DEPARTMENT AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMMIS-
 SIONER'S  REGULATIONS,  PROVIDED  THAT  THE  DEPARTMENT MAY ACCEPT STUDY
 BEYOND THE ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE SPECIFIED IN PARAGRAPH TWO OF THIS  SUBDI-
 VISION  IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THIS REQUIREMENT.  APPLICANTS WHO FILE

   of certain provisions upon expiration thereof
 
   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 7206-a of the education law, as  added  by  chapter
 987  of the laws of 1971, paragraph 3 of subdivision 1 and subdivision 2
 as amended by chapter 32 of the laws of 1981, paragraph 6 of subdivision
 1 as amended by chapter 133 of the laws  of  1982  and  paragraph  8  of
 subdivision  1 and subdivision 3 as amended by chapter 62 of the laws of
 1989, is amended to read as follows:
