S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 10494 I N A S S E M B L Y May 22, 2020 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Gottfried) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT permitting any uninsured individual to receive free coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, any unin- sured individual, regardless of immigration status shall be eligible for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing at no cost. All information collected pursuant to this act shall be confidential as provided for under state, federal or any other applicable law related to the confi- dential treatment of patient and medical data. Access to such informa- tion shall be limited and used only to the extent that the information is necessary to protect public health. § 2. Necessary funding to provide testing pursuant to section one of this act shall come from existing resources, federal funds and appropri- ations from the general fund. § 3.
