S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 10825 I N A S S E M B L Y July 16, 2020 ___________ Introduced by COMMITTEE ON RULES -- (at request of M. of A. Gunther) -- read once and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means AN ACT to authorize Sean Lewis to take the competitive civil service examination and be placed on the eligible civil service list for employment as a full-time police officer for the county of Sullivan THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil service law, or any other provision of law to the contrary, Sean Lewis, employed by the county of Sullivan, as a full-time peace officer, shall be eligible to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of deputy sheriff and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination, be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appoint- ment as a full-time deputy sheriff for the county of Sullivan. § 2. Sean Lewis shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi- cers. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
