ABBATE, COOK, CYMBROWITZ, GOTTFRIED, JAFFEE, MOSLEY, PERRY, RICHARDSON, SIMON -- read once and referred to the Committee on Aging AN ACT to establish an interagency council for the purpose of coordi- nated planning on issues related to older adults THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Aging in New York: State Plan on Aging. 1. There is hereby created an interagency council for the purpose of coordinated planning on issues related to older adults. This interagency council shall include the state office for the aging, the department of health, the office of mental health, the office of alcoholism and substance abuse services, the office of temporary and disability assistance, the office for persons with developmental disabilities, the division of housing and community renewal, the department of labor, the department of financial services, the department of transportation, and the office of children and family services. 2. The interagency council shall develop a state plan on aging that plans for the current and future needs of older adults. Such report shall assess current programs and services across multiple agencies, additional need, both current and projected, and encourage interagency cooperation for planning and improving outcomes. Such plan shall focus on several areas including, but not limited to: (a) NYConnects and the No Wrong Door approach; (b) Long term care, including funding, options, and insurance; (c) Health services, including pharmaceutical coverage, assistance with activities of daily living, disease management, and coordination among medical professionals; (d) Transportation; (e) Community-based services, including adult day services, personal care, friendly visiting; EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
