ABINANTI -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Local Governments AN ACT to amend the village law, in relation to authorizing absentee ballots in an election to incorporate a village THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 2-220 of the village law is amended to read as follows: 2. Manner of voting. A. Voting may be either IN PERSON by voting machine or by paper ballots, OR BY ABSENTEE BALLOT. Paper ballots may be written or printed and shall be consecutively numbered. Ballots shall contain the words "for incorporation" and "against incorporation". B. BALLOTS FOR ABSENTEE VOTERS SHALL BE, AS NEARLY AS PRACTICABLE, IN THE SAME FORM AS THOSE TO BE VOTED ON ELECTION DAY, IF ANY, EXCEPT THAT BALLOTS SHALL HAVE THE WORDS "ABSENTEE BALLOT", ENDORSED THEREON. THE PROVISIONS OF THE ELECTION LAW REGARDING ABSENTEE BALLOTS NOT INCONSIST- ENT WITH THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL APPLY TO SUCH BALLOTS SO FAR AS THE SAME ARE PRACTICABLE. § 2.
