 AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in  relation  to  requiring
   the  commissioner  of  motor  vehicles  to monitor manufacturer safety
   recalls and notify vehicle registrants

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  The  vehicle  and  traffic law is amended by adding a new
 section 224-b to read as follows:
   § 224-B. MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY RECALLS. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL  MONITOR
 ALL MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALLS FOR ALL MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES AND
 SHALL  FURTHER  NOTIFY  EACH  VEHICLE REGISTRANT OF THE ISSUANCE OF SUCH
 MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALLS BY PUBLISHING THE INFORMATION ON THE DEPART-
 MENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES WEBSITE.
   § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day  after  it  shall
 have become a law.

 AN ACT in relation to requiring the commissioner of  motor  vehicles  to
   provide information on motor vehicle manufacturer safety recalls

   THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The commissioner of motor vehicles  shall  publish  on  the
 department  of  motor vehicles' website information to assist persons in
 determining whether a safety recall has been issued  on  motor  vehicles
 and  related  equipment, child safety seats, or tires, including but not
 limited to providing and displaying a hyperlink to the National  Highway
 Traffic  Safety  Administration's  safety issues and recall page, on the
 homepage of the department of motor vehicles' website in  a  conspicuous
 manner.
   §  2. This act shall take effect one year after it shall have become a
 law.
