S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 6862 2019-2020 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y March 22, 2019 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. ORTIZ -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to working as a teaching assistant accruing time towards certification THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3006 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 4 to read as follows: 4. WHERE TEACHING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE OR MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION THE COMMISSIONER SHALL CREDIT EXPERIENCE AS A TEACHING ASSISTANT TOWARDS SUCH REQUIREMENT. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD05774-01-9
