 AN ACT to establish a 4-H agriculture technology challenge
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1.  There  is hereby established a 4-H agriculture technology
 challenge. Such challenge shall be administered  by  the  department  of
 agriculture  and  markets  in conjunction with local Cornell cooperative
 extension associations and local FIRST robotics programs.   The  depart-
 ment  of  agriculture  and markets shall work with local Cornell cooper-
 ative extension associations to establish a challenge to engage students
 in rural communities to  develop  solutions  to  relevant  technological
 problems  faced  by  farmers and food producers.  Such relevant problems
 may include, but not be limited to,  increasing  food  production  while
 also  addressing  the environmental impact of such increase. The depart-
 ment of agriculture and markets shall establish a planning team to train
 local coaches to assist students in rural communities to participate  in
 the  challenge.  Such planning team shall develop deadlines, parameters,
 and relevant judging criteria for the  submission  for  the  agriculture
 technology  challenge.  Subject to relevant appropriations, the planning
 team shall establish prizes to be awarded to the winning submissions for
 the agriculture technology challenge.
   ยง 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
