S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 9581 I N A S S E M B L Y January 24, 2020 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. GUNTHER, SCHMITT -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education AN ACT to study the viability of the Newburgh armory unity center liter- acy education advocacy partnership THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of education shall conduct a study on the Newburgh Armory Unity Center Literacy Education Advocacy Partnership (NAUC LEAP). The purpose of such study shall be to determine the successes and effectiveness of the program in achieving its goals. The commissioner of education shall then develop recommendations for repli- cating the program in other areas of the state. § 2. The commissioner of education shall, on or before April 1, 2021, report the findings, conclusions and recommendations of such study to the governor, temporary president of the senate and speaker of the assembly. § 3.
