HONORING George DeNys upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2019 Commitment to
Community Award by the Unadilla Chamber of Commerce
on April 28, 2019

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
George DeNys upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2019 Commitment to Community Award by the Unadilla Chamber of Commerce,
to be celebrated at its Annual Dinner on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the
Unadilla First United Methodist Church in Unadilla, New York; and

WHEREAS, George DeNys and his family moved to Unadilla eight years
ago, and shortly thereafter, became vital and involved participants of
their community; in January of 2018, he was elected to the esteemed
title of Town Supervisor, where he is dedicated to making his hometown a
better place to live, work and play; and

WHEREAS, A proud Air Force veteran stationed in both Korea and
England, George DeNys is an active member of the American Legion,
participating in local parades; and

WHEREAS, George DeNys is also a faithful congregant of St. Luke's
Church in Sidney, New York, where he held the position of Treasurer;
through the church, he has been involved in the Sidney Central School
Back Pack Program for the past three years; and

WHEREAS, A talented banjo and guitar player, George DeNys and his
wife enjoy performing at the Deposit Theatre Performing Arts, and
raising funds for this vital organization; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Sarah Grote, and
their two children, Julie and George, all of whom have shown him love
and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor George DeNys upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2019 Commitment to Community Award by the Unadilla Chamber of
Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to George DeNys.
