BILL NUMBER: S1014 SPONSOR: JACOBS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to the amount of the supplemental basic tuition for charter schools PURPOSE: This legislation would require the annual apportionment that is made available to school districts outside of the city of New York to reim- burse school districts for certain charter school tuition payments be made available to such districts in the current school year. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Sections 1 and 2 amend section 2856 of the education law to state that school districts, with a population less than one million, shall be eligible foran annual apportionment equal to the amount of the supple- mental basic tuition for the charter school in the current school year. JACOBS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the amount of the supplemental basic tuition for charter schools THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (d) of subdivision 1 of section 2856 of the education law, as amended by section 4 of part YYY of chapter 59 of the laws of 2017, is amended to read as follows: (d) School districts shall be eligible for an annual apportionment equal to the amount of the supplemental basic tuition for the charter school in the base year for the expenses incurred in the two thousand fourteen--two thousand fifteen, two thousand fifteen--two thousand sixteen, two thousand sixteen--two thousand seventeen school years and THEREAFTER, PROVIDED HOWEVER, THAT FOR ANY SCHOOL DISTRICT HAVING A POPULATION OF LESS THAN ONE MILLION, SUCH PAYMENT SHALL BE MADE IN THE CURRENT YEAR FOR EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN--TWO THOUSAND TWENTY SCHOOL YEAR AND thereafter. § 2.
