BILL NUMBER: S203 SPONSOR: ORTT TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the correction law, in relation to requiring state reimbursement for costs incurred by counties when holding individuals on parole violations PURPOSE: This legislation would require the State to reimburse Counties for the costs borne for individuals on parole being held for technical parole violations. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the correction law by adding a new section 530-a to require the State to reimburse Counties for the costs borne for individ- uals on parole being held for technical parole violations.

ORTT -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to requiring state reimbursement for costs incurred by counties when holding individuals on parole violations THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The correction law is amended by adding a new section 96 to read as follows: § 96. COUNTY REIMBURSEMENT FOR CERTAIN DETENTION COSTS. EXPENDITURES MADE BY COUNTIES IN PROVIDING CARE, MAINTENANCE AND SUPERVISION TO PARO- LEES IN DETENTION FACILITIES BEING HELD FOR TECHNICAL PAROLE VIOLATIONS PENDING A HEARING WITH THEIR PAROLE OFFICER, SHALL BE SUBJECT TO REIMBURSEMENT BY THE STATE. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD02719-01-9
