BILL NUMBER: S4576 SPONSOR: MARTINEZ TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to qualifications for individuals designated or appointed to the conservation fund advisory board PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this legislation is to make optional the requirement that all members of the Conservation Fund Advisory Board possess a valid hunting, trapping or fishing license. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Persons designated or appointed to the advisory board, excluding ex officio members, shall have demonstrated a long-standing interest, knowledge and experience in fish and wildlife management, including hunting or fishing, which may be evidenced by the holding of a valid NYS hunting, fishing or trapping license.

MARTINEZ, MAYER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Environmental Conservation AN ACT to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to qual- ifications for individuals designated or appointed to the conservation fund advisory board THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 1 of section 11-0327 of the environmental conservation law, as added by chapter 308 of the laws of 1994, is amended to read as follows: (b) Persons designated or appointed to the advisory board, excluding ex officio members, shall have demonstrated a long-standing interest, knowledge and experience in fish and wildlife management, including hunting or fishing, [as] WHICH MAY BE evidenced [in part] by the holding of a valid New York state hunting, fishing or trapping license at the time they are designated or appointed to such board and for each of the three years immediately preceding their designation or appointment to such board. One member, who may not be an ex officio member, shall be elected chairman of the advisory board by a majority vote of the members of such board, excluding ex officio members. § 2.
