BILL NUMBER: S5304 SPONSOR: ANTONACCI TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the state law, in relation to naming the wood frog the official amphibian of the state of New York PURPOSE: This will name the wood frog as the official state amphibian. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill will amend the state law by adding a new section 92 to name the wood frog (lithobates sylvaticus) the official amphibian of the state of New York. ANTONACCI -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the state law, in relation to naming the wood frog the official amphibian of the state of New York THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The state law is amended by adding a new section 92 to read as follows: § 92. STATE AMPHIBIAN. THE WOOD FROG (LITHOBATES SYLVATICUS) SHALL BE THE OFFICIAL AMPHIBIAN OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07143-01-9
