BILL NUMBER: S6005 SPONSOR: BAILEY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the public housing law, in relation to making certain community centers eligible for nonprofit infrastructure capital investment program awards SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill amends the public housing law by adding a new section 402-e allowing a community center physically located within a New York City Housing Authority facility to be eligible to apply for and receive fund- ing from the nonprofit infrastructure capital investment program. JUSTIFICATION: This bill would allow nonprofits which provide vital social services for children, youth, and seniors in NYCHA-owned facilities to access infras- tructure funding through the nonprofit infrastructure capital investment program for the purpose of building or property maintenance or improve- ments, structural maintenance or improvements, or building systems main-

BAILEY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Housing, Construction and Community Development AN ACT to amend the public housing law, in relation to making certain community centers eligible for nonprofit infrastructure capital investment program awards THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The public housing law is amended by adding a new section 402-e to read as follows: § 402-E. COMMUNITY CENTER FUNDING. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW TO THE CONTRARY, A COMMUNITY CENTER PHYSICALLY LOCATED WITHIN A NEW YORK CITY HOUSING AUTHORITY FACILITY SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR AND RECEIVE FUNDING FROM THE NONPROFIT INFRASTRUCTURE CAPITAL INVESTMENT PROGRAM. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11244-01-9
