BILL NUMBER: S6290 SPONSOR: THOMAS TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to granting Federal Bureau of Investigation police certain peace officer powers PURPOSE: To grant certain peace officer powers to Federal Bureau of Investigation Police. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one amends subdivision one of § 2.15 of the Criminal Procedure Law to add Federal Bureau of Investigation Police to the list of federal law enforcement officers granted peace officer powers. Section two provides an effective date.

THOMAS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to granting Federal Bureau of Investigation police certain peace officer powers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 2.15 of the criminal procedure law, as amended by chapter 68 of the laws of 1983, is amended to read as follows: 1. Federal Bureau of Investigation special agents AND FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION POLICE. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD13072-01-9
