BILL NUMBER: S7527 SPONSOR: MYRIE TITLE OF BILL: An act to repeal chapter 834 of the laws of 1940, relating to the removal of certain policemen PURPOSE: To repeal chapter 834 of the laws of 1940, which limits the ability of localities across the state to provide independent oversight of police. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 repeals chapter 834 of the laws of 1940. Section 2 provides for the effective date. JUSTIFICATION:

MYRIE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to repeal chapter 834 of the laws of 1940, relating to the removal of certain policemen THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Chapter 834 of the laws of 1940, relating to the removal of certain policemen, is REPEALED. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD14510-01-9
