BILL NUMBER: S7820 SPONSOR: KENNEDY TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 9 of the laws of 2020 relating to allowing the commissioner of transportation to impound or immobilize stretch limou- sines in certain situations, in relation to the effectiveness thereof SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: This bill modifies the effective date for one of the laws passed as part of the stretch limousine safety package. JUSTIFICATION: This chapter amendment to the limousine safety package modifies the effective date for the Department of Transportation's authorization to impound or immobilize dangerous vehicles from one year after being signed into law to 90 days after being signed into law.

KENNEDY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend chapter 9 of the laws of 2020 relating to allowing the commissioner of transportation to impound or immobilize stretch limou- sines in certain situations, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 9 of the laws of 2020, relating to allowing the commissioner of transportation to impound or immobilize stretch limousines in certain situations, is amended to read as follows: § 2. This act shall take effect [one year] ON THE NINETIETH DAY after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15493-01-0
