BILL NUMBER: S8625 SPONSOR: BORRELLO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Sergeant David Lockwood Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: Designates the bridges on Interstate route 86 crossing Schoolhouse Road, in the town of Randolph, county of Cattaraugus, as the "Sergeant David Lockwood Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends the highway law by adding a new section 344-1, which designates the bridges on Interstate 86, crossing Schoolhouse Road, in the town of Randolph, county of Cattaraugus, as the "Sergeant David Lockwood Memorial Bridge."

BORRELLO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Sergeant David Lockwood Memorial Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-l to read as follows: § 344-L. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SERGEANT DAVID LOCKWOOD MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGES ON INTERSTATE ROUTE EIGHTY-SIX, CROSSING OVER SCHOOLHOUSE ROAD, IN THE TOWN OF RANDOLPH, COUNTY OF CATTARAUGUS, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "SERGEANT DAVID LOCKWOOD MEMORIAL BRIDGE". § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD16777-03-0
