TITLE OF BILL:

An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
the state highway system as the "Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway"

 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:

Designates State Route 63 in the Town of North Dansville, County of
Livingston, as the "Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway."

 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-i to
read as follows:

344-i. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the
"Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway". All that portion of the state
highway system constituting state route sixty-three in the town of North

Dansville, county of Livingston, shall be designated and known as the
"Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway". Section 2. The commissioner of
transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of
adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to
section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and limit any
possible disruption of commerce, the designation called for pursuant to
section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the offi-
cial name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.

 
JUSTIFICATION:

The Town of North Dansville has expressed its desire to honor all those
who served in our Armed Forces from the Town of North Dansville. The
Town Board, by unanimous vote, adopted a formal resolution requesting
legislation to designate New York State Route 63 in the Town of North
Dansville, Livingston County, as the "Dansville Veterans Memorial High-
way". New York State has a long history of recognizing the valiant
actions of its veterans, as well as their brave and honorable service
and sacrifice. This legislation will rightfully honor veterans both
living and deceased in the Town of North Dansville.

EFFECTIVE DATE:

 AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
   the state highway system as the "Dansville Veterans Memorial Highway"
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-i to
 read as follows:
   §  344-I.  PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
 "DANSVILLE VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT  PORTION  OF  THE  STATE
 HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE SIXTY-THREE IN THE TOWN OF NORTH
 DANSVILLE,  COUNTY  OF  LIVINGSTON, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE
 "DANSVILLE VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
   § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the  instal-
 lation  and  maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
 as designated pursuant to section one of this  act.  However,  to  avoid
 confusion  and  to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig-
 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall  be  one  of
