BILL NUMBER: S8765 SPONSOR: METZGER TITLE OF BILL: An act directing the commissioner of the department of environmental conservation to promulgate rules and regulations establishing targets for the sales of zero emissions heavy duty vehicles in the state SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the unconsolidated law to require the commissioner of the department of environmental conservation (DEC) to, within 180 days of the effective date, promulgate rules and regulations, that may include the updating of existing regulations, which establish targets for the sales of zero emissions heavy duty vehicles in the state. Such standards shall contain, at a minimum, the same sales targets, fleet percentages, and credit calculations for zero emissions heavy duty vehi- cles as regulations adopted by the state of California. Section 2 establishes the effective date.

METZGER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT directing the commissioner of the department of environmental conservation to promulgate rules and regulations establishing targets for the sales of zero emissions heavy duty vehicles in the state THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The commissioner of the department of environmental conser- vation shall, within 180 days of the effective date of this act, promul- gate rules and regulations, which may include the updating of existing regulations, which establish targets for the sales of zero emissions heavy duty vehicles in the state. Such standards shall, at a minimum, contain the same sales targets, fleet percentages, and credit calcu- lations for zero emissions heavy duty vehicles as set forth in regu- lations adopted by the state of California. § 2.
