BILL NUMBER: S887 SPONSOR: YOUNG TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing pharma- cists to administer influenza immunizations to persons six years of age or older PURPOSE: Authorizes pharmacists to administer immunizations to prevent influenza to persons six or older. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends section 6801 of the education law by adding a new subdivision 6 to authorize pharmacists to administer immunizations to prevent influenza to persons six or older. Section 2 provides that the act shall take effect on the ninetieth day

YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing pharma- cists to administer influenza immunizations to persons six years of age or older THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 6801 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows: 6. A LICENSED PHARMACIST MAY ADMINISTER IMMUNIZATIONS TO PREVENT INFLUENZA TO PERSONS SIX YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law, provided, however, that the amendments to section 6801 of the education law made by section one of this act shall not affect the expiration of such section and shall be deemed to expire therewith.
