FERNANDEZ, JEAN-PIERRE, COLTON, GRIFFIN, SMULLEN -- Multi-Sponsored by -- M. of A. RAMOS -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to requiring state police to carry and offer use of jumper cables THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 212-a to read as follows: § 212-A. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT. THE SUPERINTENDENT SHALL REQUIRE THAT EVERY VEHICLE OPERATED BY THE NEW YORK STATE POLICE BE EQUIPPED WITH JUMPER CABLES TO ASSIST IN POWERING THE BATTERY OF DISABLED VEHICLES. A STATE POLICE OFFICER SHALL BE REQUIRED TO OFFER USE OF SUCH JUMPER CABLES WHEN APPROACHING A DISABLED VEHICLE. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
