 AN  ACT  to amend the general municipal law, in relation to the purposes
   and powers of industrial development agencies

   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section  1. Subdivision 7 of section 858 of the general municipal law,
 as added by chapter 1030 of the laws of 1969,  is  amended  to  read  as
 follows:
   (7)  To  appoint  officers,  agents  and employees, to prescribe their
 qualifications and to fix their compensation and to pay the same out  of
 funds  of the agency, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT AN OFFICIAL OF THE MUNICI-
 PALITY MAY NOT SERVE AS AN OFFICER, AGENT OR EMPLOYEE OF THE AGENCY;
   § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
