BURKE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to prohibiting the use of stop arms on motor vehicles other than school buses THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new subdivision 55 to read as follows: 55. IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON WHILE OPERATING ANY MOTOR VEHICLE, OTHER THAN A SCHOOL BUS USED TO TRANSPORT SCHOOL CHILDREN, ON ANY PUBLIC HIGHWAY OR STREET IN THE STATE TO USE A STOP ARM ON SUCH VEHICLE. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07425-01-1
