 AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to  requiring  that
   recipients  of  public  assistance  benefits  must be residents of the
   state for at least ninety days prior to applying for such benefits
 
   THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
 BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
 
   Section 1. Section 131 of the social services law is amended by adding
 a new subdivision 5-b to read as follows:
   5-B.  NO  PUBLIC  ASSISTANCE SHALL BE GIVEN TO AN APPLICANT FOR PUBLIC
 ASSISTANCE WHO HAS NOT BEEN A RESIDENT OF THE STATE FOR AT LEAST  NINETY
 DAYS PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR SUCH ASSISTANCE.
   §  2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next succeed-
 ing the date upon which it shall have become a law.
