FRONTUS -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the ability of a school principal to alternatively code a student dropped from enroll- ment THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3202 of the education law is amended by adding a new subdivision 1-b to read as follows: 1-B. UPON A PUPIL BEING DROPPED FROM ENROLLMENT FROM A SCHOOL, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PROVIDE A PRINCIPAL WITH THE ABILITY TO CODE SUCH PUPIL AS BEING ENROLLED IN AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM LEADING TO VOCATIONAL TRAIN- ING OR A GED IN LIEU OF CODING SUCH STUDENT AS BEING A DROP OUT FROM SUCH SCHOOL. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
