BILL NUMBER: S1404 SPONSOR: SERRANO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to waiver of certain fees PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To allow senior citizens, who may be living on a fixed income, to enjoy certain state facilities without charge. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: This bill amends Section 13.15 of the parks, recreation and historic preservation law by adding a new subdivision 3-a which entitles senior citizens age 62 and older to the use of any state park, recreational facility or historic site under the jurisdiction of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation upon the same terms and conditions as apply to the general public, but without the payment of any fee or

SERRANO, BAILEY, LIU, SANDERS, SAVINO, STEWART-COUS- INS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be commit- ted to the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recre- ation AN ACT to amend the parks, recreation and historic preservation law, in relation to waiver of certain fees THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 13.15 of the parks, recreation and historic preser- vation law is amended by adding a new subdivision 3-a to read as follows: 3-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, SENIOR CITIZENS SHALL BE ENTITLED TO USE ANY PARK, RECREATIONAL FACILITY OR HISTORIC SITE UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE OFFICE UPON THE SAME TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS APPLY TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, BUT WITHOUT THE PAYMENT OF ANY FEE OR OTHER CHARGE FOR SUCH USE. FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SUBDIVISION THE TERM "SENIOR CITIZENS" SHALL MEAN PERSONS SIXTY-TWO YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately the addition, amendment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implementation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be made and completed on or before such date.
